Muhammed İkbal Alp studies the neuroendocrinological mechanisms behind essential functions like hunger, satiety, sleep-wake cycles, and thermoregulation.
In the 1990s, he worked in digital arts as the founding partner and creative director of a design agency, combining aesthetics and innovation for over 20 years. His interest in the human body’s structure eventually led him to study medicine, graduating from Cerrahpaşa Medical School in 2010.
He went on to specialize in neuroscience during his graduate studies in physiology and completed his PhD under Deniz Atasoy, focusing on hunger neurophysiology.
As part of his postdoctoral work at İstanbul Medipol University SABITA, he founded Q-Lab, where he uses advanced techniques like optogenetics and chemogenetics to study how neural circuits in the hypothalamus regulate critical life functions.
