Rufeyda Yağcı
[email protected]Rufeyda Yağcı is currently a third-year Medical student and is double majoring in Computer Engineering at Istanbul Medipol University. In 2020, she graduated from Meram High School of Science. In the university entrance exam, she was ranked 64th most successful student among more than 2.5 million participants. She spent a summer term in Manchester, UK for language school with a scholarship from Istanbul Medipol University.
She has been studying developing an artificial intelligence-assisted bionic smell discrimination system (Odor Sensing Project) since 2022 under the supervision of Assist.Prof. Muhammed İkbal ALP. She won the IEEE- TUAC 2023 Best Paper Award on Odor Sensing Project and the project was presented on IEEE-TUAC 2023 at Ankara, in September 2023. Also, she wrote a TUBITAK 2209 project to investigate the effect of anaesthesia on odor perception using artificial intelligence. She also has been an intern at Cagavi Lab since 2022. She has been accepted to the TUBITAK STAR program and has done an internship in a project focusing on the interaction of induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes and neurons based on ALS. She persistently proceeds with her study in both laboratories. In addition to them, she has been conducting clinical research. Her project on “Long-Term Prognosis of Functional Constipation in Children” was presented at the 55th Annual Meeting of the European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN), Vienna.
