Beyza Sevgili

[email protected]

Beyza Sevgili completed her undergraduate studies in Molecular Biology and Genetics at Necmettin Erbakan University, where she conducted research in cancer biology and astrobiology. These experiences provided her with an interdisciplinary scientific perspective and deepened her interest in understanding how complex biological systems respond to cellular and environmental cues. She is currently pursuing her M.S. degree in Neuroscience at Istanbul Medipol University under the supervision of Prof. Bahar Güntekin and co-supervision of Assist. Prof. Muhammed İkbal Alp. She joined SABITA in 2024 and conducts her research within both the Güntekin Lab and the Q Lab. Her research focuses on how neural circuit disruptions in neurodegenerative diseases manifest at the electrophysiological level, with particular emphasis on the mechanisms underlying brain oscillations, network hyperexcitability, and synaptic dysfunction. She investigates the potential of neuromodulation approaches to reorganize brain network dynamics and restore impaired functional connectivity. By combining macro-scale electrophysiological recordings with micro-scale cellular and circuit-level analyses, she adopts a multi-layered neuroscience framework that links molecular processes to behavioral outcomes.
