Mehmet Ozansoy
Mehmet Ozansoy completed his undergraduate and MSc study at the department of Molecular Biology and Genetics in Boğaziçi University and the title of his MSc thesis is “Molecular Analysis of Frontotemporal Dementia, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy and Parkinson’s Disease, Models for Two Major Classes of Neurodegenerative Disease: Tauopathies and -Synucleinopathies”. He earned his PhD degree with the thesis entitled as “Effects of Extremely Low Frequency Electromagnetic Fields on Caspase Activities”. During his graduate study he made several visits to different scientific centers abroad; in his master study he visited Imperial College, Department of Neurogenetics, London, UK and Rita Lila Weston Institute of Neurological Studies, University College London, London, UK and he visited Johns Hopkins University, Department of Neuroscience and Neurogenetics, USA and INSERM Hospital Salpetriere, Department of Neurogenetics, Paris, France in his PhD study. He spent five years as a post doctoral researcher at the Boğaziçi University, Neurodegeneration Research Laboratory (NDAL), Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics.He is currently an assistant professor at the Department of Physiology in Istanbul Medipol University, School of Medicine.His main research area in REMER is molecular/cellular mechanisms underlying motor neuron diseases using primary cell culture and in vivo models with the methodologies of RNAi, qRT-PCR, immunucytochemistry/immunohistochemistry. He is also involved in different projects about nanoparticle conjugated drug delivery and new molecule designs in the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders.
