Operating under the umbrella of the Medipol University SABITA – Institute of Health Sciences and Technologies, the Q-Lab Electrophysiology and Behavior Research Group focuses on characterizing the neural circuits underlying essential biological functions required for survival, such as hunger and satiety, nutrition and metabolism, sleep and wakefulness, circadian rhythm, thermoregulation, and baroregulation.
Utilizing specific neurostimulation techniques such as optogenetics and chemogenetics, the group stimulates targeted neuron populations and observes the resulting effects through behavioral tests. By analyzing these behaviors through in vitro and in vivo electrophysiological recording systems, the group conducts innovative research into the functioning of the nervous system.
