Congress / Redox Istanbul 2024 Congress Successfully Held

The “Redox Istanbul 2024“ congress, held from June 5-7, 2024, at the Movenpick Hotel Kurtköy in Istanbul, brought together experts from around the world to discuss the latest developments in redox biology and imaging techniques. With the theme “From Molecules to Tissues: Redox Biology in Action”, the congress offered participants three days filled with scientific knowledge and innovative technologies, garnering significant interest. Over 300 participants from the USA, Europe, and various Asian countries attended the event.

The congress covered the applications of redox biology in various biological systems and introduced the latest imaging techniques in the field. A wide range of topics was discussed through plenary sessions, symposia, and poster sessions. Special sessions were organized for young researchers and early-career scientists, providing them with opportunities to present their research. A total of 22 oral presentations were delivered, resulting in six ECR Young Investigator Awards, two Elsevier Awards, and three Oxygen Club California (OCC) Awards. Additionally, 127 posters were displayed.

On 4 June at Üsküdar University and on 8 June at Istanbul Medipol University, the Satellite Symposium “Seeing is Believing” was held at SABITA, Istanbul Medipol University, which provided participants with practical experiences related to advanced imaging technologies and tools. Istanbul Medipol University hosted six distinguished speakers specialized in redox biology and imaging were featured: Helmut Sies, Oleg V. Podgorny, Ali Ertürk, Sven Terclavers, Nikolaus Plesnila, and Onnik Agbulut. Furthermore, seven workshops and hands-on experiments were conducted at SABITA, the Zeiss Center of Excellence, for ECRs (PhD students, postdocs, and young PIs). A guided poster presentation showcasing 18 posters from young researchers at SABITA was held to foster scientific discussions and potential collaborations among ECRs.

Highlights of the event included the Gala Dinner and award ceremony held during a Bosphorus Dinner Cruise. Social activities organized throughout the congress enhanced networking and collaboration opportunities among participants. Attendees also had the chance to explore Istanbul’s rich history, culture, and world-renowned cuisine.

The congress provided a significant platform for redox biology and imaging, contributing to scientific research and innovative approaches in these fields. As the organizing committee, we extend our gratitude to all the scientists who attended and the supporting organizations. Redox Istanbul 2024 has made a notable impact on the scientific community and laid the groundwork for future events.
