Sevval Nil Esirgun
Sevval Nil Esirgun is a 4th-year Medicine-Psychology double major student at
Istanbul Medipol University. She graduated from Erzurum Highschool of Science on the honor roll. In the university entrance exam, she has ranked 57th most successful student among more than 2 million participants. In 2018, she has spent 5 months in a language school in Boston / USA. Since the beginning of her first year of medicine, she has been an intern in Cagavi lab. Under the supervision of
Assoc. Prof. Esra Cagavi, she wrote a Tubitak 2209 project to investigate the roles of polarization of cardiac macrophages in arrhythmias. Apart from her project, she has been accepted to the Tubitak STAR program and done an internship in a project focusing on the interaction of induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes and neurons in a microfluidic system. In May 2022, she has done an internship in a cancer lab at Padua University, Italy. Moreover, she conducted a project in clinics related to the roles of parvovirus in the induction of autoimmune diseases and presented her results at the 13th International Autoimmunity Congress in Athens. Furthermore, she got accepted to Amgen Scholars Research Program and will spend 2 months in the biosystem lab at ETH Zurich University. She is conducting a research project on developing organ-on-a-chip to model the vascularization of the teeth in vitro.
