Prof. Dr. Mutlu Özcan
[email protected]Dr. Mutlu ÖZCAN graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry in 1993 with degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.). She received her first doctoral degree (Dr. med. dent.; Doctorate Medicinae Dentariae) in 1999 from School of Medicine and Dentistry, in the field of prosthodontics, University of Cologne, Germany and her PhD in 2003 from Department of Dentistry and Dental Hygiene, University of Groningen, The Netherlands in the field of Dental Biomaterials.
In the years of 2001-2002 she was worked as Invited Visiting Researcher at University of Turku, Finland. In 2007 she was appointed as Professor and Research Associate at the Clinical Dental Biomaterials in University Medical Center Groningen, The Netherlands and in 2009 as Professor and Head of Dental Materials Unit in University of Zurich, School of Dentistry, Switzerland. Dr. Özcan is currently holding faculty positions in both University of Groningen and University of Zurich. She started to work at the Istanbul Medipol University in 2013. She is the head consultant of dental research laboratory of REMER.
She has authored more than 250 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, has given over 400 presentations at international scientific meetings, is a frequent lecturer at scientific meetings, receiver of several international awards and has held numerous continuing education courses in Europe. She serves also for the editorial boards of several scientific journals.
Research Interest Her main research interests are translational research on clinical longevity of tooth- or implant-borne reconstructions, dental biomaterials, surface conditioning methods, adhesion promoters, simulation methods, aging phenomena of dental tissues and biomaterials.
