SABITA is glad to announce the third “Critical Mind” event on September 14 at 14.00. Dr. Berna Yıldırım, Dr. Arife Ahsen Kaplan and MSc Damla Yay will join us with their presentations. The event will take place in person. You can attend the event at C Block Cancer Research Center.

Dr. Berna Yıldırım received her bachelor’s degree in Biology from Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University. Her master’s degree in Histology and Embryology from Istanbul Medipol University. The dissertation title is “Metagenomics Analysis and Comparison of Metamorphic and Neotenic Axolotls”. She worked for 5 years in various projects on axolotl regeneration. She received her PhD degree in Histology and Embryology from Istanbul Medipol University. The dissertion title is “The Effects of Prophylactic and Acute Statin Administration on Tissue Damage and Sperm Quality After Testicular Torsion”. She currently works on testicular torsion.
Arife Ahsen Kaplan graduated from Department of Genetics and Bioengineering, Faculty of Engineering, Yeditepe University in 2014.
Following, she received her master degree (MSc) in 2017 from the Department of Histology and Embryology, Faculty of Medicine, Ondokuz Mayıs University, Turkey. She has worked as a research assistant at the İstanbul Medipol University, School of Medicine from 2021. She received PhD degree in 2023 from the Department of Histology and Embryology, İstanbul Medipol University, Turkey.
She holds a B.Sc degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics from Çanakkale 18 Mart University. During undergraduate studies she participated three years in lab worked on human microbiota- glycobiology and gained basic lab skills. She also, took part in 3 months at University of Lodz, Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection, Cancer research laboratory as a summer ERASMUS internship and studied “Apoptotic and cytotoxic effect of Resveratrol on human breast cancer”,.
She is currently a M.Sc student of Medical Biology and Genetics department in Medipol University, SABITA and focused her interest to understand molecular mechanisms of regenerating axolotl.
