Dr. Merve Kalkan-Yazıcı
[email protected]Dr. Merve Kalkan-Yazıcı is a post-doctoral researcher at Istanbul Medipol University's Research Institute for Health Sciences and Technologies (SABITA) in Turkey. She earned her bachelor's degree in Microbiology and Genetics from Vienna University, and completed her master's and Ph.D. at Istanbul University in Molecular Medicine. Her Ph.D. research focused on virology, specifically using the Hazara virus as a model to study the Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever Virus. Currently, Dr. Kalkan-Yazıcı works in Eroğlu's research laboratory at İstanbul Medipol University. Her research utilizes genetically encoded biosensors and chemogenetic tools to investigate signaling processes in brain microvascular cells, particularly in the context of stroke and reperfusion injury. She is committed to advancing our understanding of vascular biology, viral diseases, and metabolism through the use of chemogenetically engineered biosensors.
