Kv7 (KCNQ) potassium channels are voltage-gated regulators of membrane excitability in vascular and neuronal cells. Using patch-clamp electrophysiology, the effects of cholesterol and cholesterol-derived modulators on Kv7 channel function will be characterized, revealing system-specific mechanisms that shape cellular excitability in the vasculature and the brain.

Elif Karabatak is a scientific researcher with strong expertise in electrophysiology, specializing in Kv7 ion channels and their physiological regulation. She recently completed her PhD in this field and conducted advanced research at the University of Münster’s Physiology I Institute, where she led studies on ion channel function using state-of-the-art electrophysiological profiling techniques.
