Artificial Intelligence in Health & Disease: Machine Learning-Based Drug Response, Resistance, and Personalized Treatment Models

This presentation will explore how artificial intelligence and machine learning-based approaches can play a transformative role in diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment response prediction for heterogeneous and treatment-resistant brain tumors such as glioma and neurodegenerative diseases. Specifically, the joint analysis of multi-modal data sources (MR images, histopathology, molecular biomarkers, and clinical parameters) enables more accurate differentiation of glioma subtypes and the development of patient-specific treatment strategies.

The presentation will discuss the use of deep learning and classical machine learning methods in glioma image analysis, tumor heterogeneity, progression prediction, and treatment response prediction; it will also discuss how these models can be linked to drug response, chemotherapy, and resistance mechanisms in targeted therapies. The integration of AI-supported models into clinical decision support systems will be positioned as a tool that enhances the physician’s decision rather than replacing it.

Additionally, the translational potential of AI-supported drug and treatment systems will be evaluated within the framework of university-hospital-industry collaborations, taking into account the clinical validity, generalizability, and ethical-privacy dimensions of the developed models. The presentation will conclude with a roadmap for the transition of artificial intelligence from research to clinical practice in the field of glioma and neurodegenerative disease perspectives.
