The objective of this presentation is to provide an insight into the design and fabrication of biocompatible biomaterials that serve as scaffolds for tissue engineering applications. The presentation will also share the findings from Dr. Turdimuhammad Abdullah’s own research and experience in this field. He will examine the diverse materials and techniques utilized in the fabrication of these scaffolds, emphasizing their function in facilitating cell growth, tissue regeneration, and the overall success of engineered tissues. Furthermore, he will address the challenges and innovations in scaffold design, including how material properties, structure, and biocompatibility are tailored to meet specific tissue engineering needs. Through this discussion, he aim to provide a comprehensive overview of the current advancements and future directions in the field, emphasizing the critical role of biomaterials in advancing regenerative medicine.
Dr. Turdimuhammad Abdullah earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from King Abdulaziz University (KAU) in 2019, followed by a postdoctoral research position at the Nanotechnology Center, KAU until 2021. Subsequently, he was awarded the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) fellowship in 2021, conducting research at Istanbul Technical University until September 2023. Since then, he has served as a project leader at İZEL Kimya R&D Center, where he translates his academic research expertise into practical applications, particularly focusing on innovative chemical synthesis and fabrication techniques to develop advanced biomaterials with multifunctional properties for various applications, including tissue engineering and drug delivery. Throughout his academic journey, Dr. Abdullah has effectively managed multiple tasks with competing demands and deadlines. He has demonstrated his ability to communicate effectively through his authorship of 20+ peer-reviewed journal articles (Total citation: 900+, h-index: 14). In addition, the practical impact of his research is underscored by the acquisition of 8 issued U.S. patents and 2 pending patent applications.
