Gizem Karadağ
[email protected]Gizem Karadağ earned her B.A. degree in Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation from Istanbul Medipol University with summa cum laude distinction. During her undergraduate studies, she developed a strong interest in the neural mechanisms underlying motor control, sensory processing, and cognitive functions, which laid the foundation for her transition into the field of neuroscience. She is currently pursuing her M.Sc. in Neuroscience at Istanbul Medipol University under the supervision of Prof. Bahar Güntekin, where her research focuses on gamma-band oscillations, neuromodulation, and cognitive neuroscience. Gizem works at the Electrophysiology, Neuroimaging and Neuromodulation Laboratory (Güntekin Lab), actively contributing to multiple TÜBİTAK-funded projects involving EEG, tACS, and tDCS applications. Her responsibilities include data collection from individuals across various neurological profiles and advanced signal analysis using BrainVision Analyzer and EEGLAB. Her research interests include individualized gamma frequency (IGF), oscillatory biomarkers of cognitive functions, sensory entrainment, and the neuromodulatory effects of non-invasive brain stimulation techniques. She has presented her work on gamma oscillations and entrainment at national scientific meetings and continues to be involved in interdisciplinary collaborations within the neuroscience community. Alongside her academic research, Gizem has several years of clinical experience as a physiotherapist specializing in neurodevelopmental rehabilitation. She has worked extensively with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and other neurodevelopmental conditions, integrating neuroscience-based therapeutic approaches into clinical practice. This dual background in clinical rehabilitation and cognitive neuroscience strengthens her translational perspective and her interest in brain-behavior relationships.
